PASSIVE VOICE

Present simple and past simple Passive Voice

To learn Passive Voice it is necessary to know the past participles (3rd column for irregular verbs or verb in -ed for regular verbs).

Once you do not have any problems with past participles, it is time to learn the Passive Voice in English.

In the Passive Voice we want to emphasize the action (the verb) and the object of a sentence rather than subject. This means that the subject is or less important than the action itself or that we don’t know who or what the subject is.

When we know who the subject is, we put it at the end with by. We call this an agent.

We form the Passive Voice by using a form of the auxiliary verb to be in the correct tense + the past participle.
